Jacob Sutton’s simply gorgeous video captures pro snowboarder William Hughes on a night run in the French Alps — in an LED-encrusted snowsuit. The suit was specially designed by John Spatcher for the shoot. “I was really drawn to the idea of a lone character made of light surfing through darkness,” Sutton tells Nowness, the culture blog that produced the video, in a post on their site. “I’ve always been excited by unusual ways of lighting things, so it seemed like an exciting idea to make the subject of the film the only light source.”

Ben Franklin’s Ghost Teaches You Photographer’s Rights

It’s easier than ever to capture images of public goings-on with all our fancy camera gadgets. If you find yourself in the middle of some contentious event—particularly when the police are involved—you should know your rights. And who better to tell you than the singing cartoon ghost of Benjamin Franklin?

The American Civil Liberties Union teamed up with Joseph Gordon-Levitt to bring you this animation about photographing in public. Clearly targeting those of the Occupy Wall Street ilk, the video might just be the most entertaining explanation of your camera rights out there.

A good friend invited Anne and I out Tuesday night to 180 Meridian Grill in Norman. Opening to the public this past Monday, it’s a second helping from the good folks behind Grand House in the OKC Asian District.

The menu is a crazy mix of Asian spun takes on comfortable foods - salads, sandwiches, noodles, pizza, etc. Anne and I quickly tore through the ground lamb Samosa Spring Rolls, Pork Tenderloin Skewers, and Mongolian Meatloaf. I’ve become a recent fan of lemon and bacon in sushi so we finished with one of their specialty rolls.

Great food. No question. But… by far the most impressive part of our plate were the sauces. I could’ve honestly drank from the stainless steel cups. Whatever sauce was served with the pork should be sold in bulk.

The Art of Thank You Note Writing

It’s a weekly run from their shop followed by free beer from COOP Ale Works. Anne the Wife is out of town so I was flying solo tonight with the 50 plus runners.

I kept pace with a couple people and finished the 3.3 mile run in just under 31 minutes. Me and my 9:30 mile were destroyed by most of the more experienced runners, but there were plenty of others just out to have a good time. The free beer helped too.
